Matilda Kantha (Chocolate & Dusty Rose)

The Matilda Kantha is a personal super huge favourite. Lovely chocolatey dark brown accented by off-white and a flat dusty rose. All-over block print design that’s easy on the eye, not fussy, and pure. Not too small, not too big. Thick but not overly so, and soft. Appeal is so personal but Matilda checks all our boxes.

The reverse a vastly different design: green-tinged yellow offset by red borders.

We hand select all our kantha in Jaipur. As with all vintage kantha, there may be signs of wear, those beautiful wrinkles that come with time, but we ensure all our choices are long-lasting pieces for the English home. The Matilda is in excellent shape.

Treena Kantha (Multi)

The Treena is one of that special breed of kantha where a patchwork of colour reigns — perfect for all nooks & crannies. Here both sides have a lovely collection of hues — one leaning pink with orange, the other more teal. There are ample photos which hope to describe pictorially far better than words.

We hand select all our kantha in Jaipur. As with all vintage kantha, there may be signs of wear, those beautiful wrinkles that accompany a life well lived, but we ensure all our choices are long-lasting pieces for the English home.

Izzie Kantha (Pink/Red)

The Izzie is a fine example of traditional Indian kantha. A mix of pink/red, yellow & white are accented by muted blue on one side–a few colours yet calming together. The other split between red with faded orange with a super cute edge panel. She’s a bit bohemian, a bit country folk. Overall, the Izzie is an easy breezy one perfect for a home full of life. This is definitely one where both sides, while different, are complimentary, and either can serve as the primary.

All our kantha are hand selected on visits to the Pink City, Jaipur. The primary criteria is “would we want this little lovely in our own home”. All vintage kantha are unique finds and hold signs of character found in a life well lived — with a full life yet to come.

Evelyn Kantha (Dark Green with Yellow)

The Evelyn is one of that special breed of kantha where colour and abstract design reigns — perfect for all nooks & crannies but hits a sweet spot in rooms calling for more but perhaps full on pattern. Here it’s a lovely dark green (photographs were a bit tricky.. she’s not teal!) with mustard yellow accents beautifully showing more prominently in certain areas… in others more subtle and with small traces of other faint colours. Descriptions may not do justice, please refer to photos.

The reverse primarily purple with white offsets — and a bit of blue transition for variety.

Gwen Kantha (Red, Blue & Beige)

The Gwen is distinguished, character-filled, and warm — slim navy & red stripes on a beige background. Reminiscent of what might be found strewn across a roughened Windsor chair in the pages of an interiors magazine — a photo shoot in that retro 1970s finish. Perhaps in a kitchen with a working Inglenook where earthenware jugs line up across the top. Or across the end of a bed with mismatched patterned bedding and a cricket table serving by bedside. She will bring that special dignity with her wherever she calls home.

Jesse Kantha (Blue & Off-White)

The Jesse Kantha; blue dots on an off-white background, with a contrast coral block print border. Yes, we know she’s not our typical pick (!) but she’s just so lovable we couldn’t resist. Of larger size (please see Details tab below) and with a reverse of boisterous floral design and colour, Jesse is a big dose of originality and fun.

Kylie Kantha (Multi)

The Kylie Kantha is bursting with happy vibes. Sunny yellow, kelly green, raspberry pink are just some of the summery colours in this little lovely. Happily, truly reversible with the same design adorning both sides (barring a small panel of blue on one) and in smaller size for ease of use.. Kylie is the life of the party. Playroom? Picnic blanket (yes please!)? Kitchen banquette? Summer house treat? She’s a gem wherever she lands.

We always hand-select our kantha and choose them for all-over design, beautiful colour combinations and patterns perfect for our English homes.

Fifi Kantha (Peach & Pink)

The Fifi Kantha is a truly beautiful balance of peach and raspberry-pink hues to create a subtle, warm & inviting home fabric. Small scale block print details, subtle colour which has a golden touch, and blessedly soft. Covering the end of a bed, draped across a loved armchair, folded over a banister, folded laying in wait in the family snug… she fits anywhere. She’s a special one and we can’t wait to unite Fifi with her forever home.

We always hand-select our kantha and choose them for all-over design, beautiful colour combinations and patterns perfect for our English homes. The Fifi was a clear “yes” when we stumbled upon her.

Please note: photos can be tricky sometimes. Here photos have largely been designed to highlight the design features (which are subtle). As a result, in some photos, the colour depicted is stronger than in reality. The Fifi is calm and subtle, not bold or brash.

Bobby Kantha (Green)

Each kantha is hand-selected on trips to Jaipur. As with all vintage fabrics, there can be signs of wear or the odd patch or two. Kantha lovers find these perfect imperfections add to their charm.

The Trixie Kantha is an unusual selection for us at shenouk. Patchwork — so typical of many traditional kantha — here is captivating and dreamily so. A perfect melange of lovely colour, easy design, and the warmth we all crave. Reds, purples, golds, wonderful worn yet perfectly sturdy. The reverse a muted blend of off-white and faded blues.
