The Gunnel is two parts charm. The back side is a rich tomato red with hints of block print under-layers showing through and wonderfully worn for that perfect vintage flair. The front is alternating wide panels of soft beige and dusky pink with a stunning thick side border in lilac with offset white paisley markings. Tiny floral motifs in dark pink & sky blue are scattered throughout this side for a bit of cuteness but also a more important depth of character. There are two distinct red patches on the front side (which can be enjoyed as they are or patched by cutting a length of the kantha for similar colour patches). Despite vastly different designs, they work wonderfully together with touches of the bottom side showing through or tucked away.
