The Shruti is one of a slightly different category of kantha, fabulous examples of vintage Indian textiles, perfectly worn yet reassuringly substantial. Here, the front is a gorgeous combination of pinks offset with faded smokey sage greens and barely-there lavender. The pink patterned borders are uniquely set out in increasing size. The reverse is a fitting companion to the front, a slightly abstract all-over teal with embroidery in red & white.
She’s unique, the composition rare and the colour palette refined. The Shruti is also of smaller scale which provides wonderful benefit of showcasing her full design without having to fold it away.
We always hand-select our kantha and choose them for all-over design, beautiful colour combinations and patterns perfect for our English homes. Signs of wear are typical of vintage textiles and in the case of Shruti, is part of her magic.
