All our kantha are hand-selected in Jaipur as textiles worthy of welcoming into our own homes. It’s a time-consuming task, there are hundreds to choose from, it’s normally quite dusty (!), many are stained, others too flamboyant [for us], still others we’re not quite sure about on first glance. The Gaggi Kantha immediately made it to the “yes” pile.
She’s humble, charming, and warm. The front a meld of reddish-pink (or pinkish-red?) and white checkerboard design offset by unexpectedly wonderful blue floral motifs. The back is a hodge-podge of colour and pattern, so typical of many kantha, which coordinates with the front–albeit with a very different vibe!
All kantha are wonderful additions to our surroundings, adding character and texture to whatever room they join. Among these, the Gaggi is special.
