The Gilli is a sweet gem, a simply lovely representation of Indian kantha. Front in sublime subtlety: pink and green motifs on a pale yellow (verging on chartreuse) background, complete with distinctive central panel running vertically through. A charmer, not too bold yet not subdued and full of countryside charm in both colour and design.
The reverse holds a panel of the same overall design from front, the rest a lively pattern in aqua and dark lavender. For those lovers of fun patchwork characteristic in kantha, this checks the box… but not overly so!
